What do I need to do before the class?
In order to expedite your CHL, we advise that you apply for your DPS CHL Packet online prior to the class (see “Links”). We will also have packets available if you are unable to do this.
Please take the time to practice handling/shooting the gun you wish to qualify with. You will be required to pass the CHL Shooting Proficiency section of the class with a score of 175 out of 250 points (70%).

What do I bring to class?
Please bring the following: DPS CHL Packet (if applied online), Drivers License, Pen and pad to take notes, Hearing and Eye Protection, Unloaded Handgun, and 1 Box of Ammunition (50 Rounds Minimum)
Handgun and Ammo Specifics: We recommend that you bring a gun that you are familiar with, that is in good working order, and does not have any modifications that would make it less safe. No laser sights or optics will be allowed. Semi-automatic’s must be at least .9mm caliber and Revolvers of at least .32 caliber (no push off or single action will be accepted).
We will provide the following: DPS CHL Packet, Range Fees, B-27 Target, Training Materials and Exam, Certificate, Notary Services, Passport Photos, and a gun to rent if needed.

Can I conceal-carry my loaded weapon to class?
Please leave your handgun, unloaded and secured in a case, in your locked vehicle. Absolutely no live ammo or loaded guns allowed in class.

What is appropriate attire for class?
Proper attire includes jeans/pants (no shorts), and shoes that cover the entire foot (no sandals or flip-flops). We do not recommend a shoe with a “high” heel as it can affect your shooting.

Will I be fed?
We will offer snacks and water through out the day, but lunch will be your responsibility. Please feel free to bring a sack lunch or bring cash for group lunch buy (i.e. pizza).

If I need to cancel, what is the refund/reschedule policy?
CHL Class registration cancellation received by email at least 14 calendar days before the scheduled date will receive a full refund (less $20 registration/processing fees).
CHL Class registration cancellation received less than 14 calendar days before the class will receive a partial refund (50%).
You are also welcome to reschedule your class within 12 months of your original class date.

The basics… Classroom Behavior.
Zero tolerance for alcohol or drug abuse prior to or during entire class time, this includes prescription sleeping medication and “over the counter” cold medication.
No profane language or racial slurs will be tolerated.
Respect for Instructor, Classmates, Classroom, and Self is required.
